仏教における色とは色（しき）と呼称し、全ての物質を示すものである。人や世界は色、受、想、行、識の五蘊（ごうん）が因縁によって集まり生じて、刻一刻と変化していく仮設（けせつ）であるとされる。仮設でありながらも存在はあり、しかしながら全ては空である。色即是空 空即是色を唱える般若心経はそうも語るのだ。空であり色であること、色であり空であること。それらは決して人の知覚と認識の上で理解するものではないだろう。だが作家はそれをあえて見せる形に、仮に表してみる。美術を視覚芸術と断ずるのであれば、カメラとプロジェクターは美術にとって仮設される表現として、最小単位の素材になるであろう。
