私の記憶力は乏しく、日々カレンダーアプリやToDoリストアプリに助けられています。特に忘れがちなのは、感情です。目にしたものや耳にしたことはまだ覚えていられるのですが、感じたことはすぐに忘れてしまいます。「うれしかった」という事実は覚えていても、それはまるで歴史の教科書に書かれた過去の出来事のように、他人事のように感じてしまうのです。

そんな私が、大切な出来事を忘れないようにと、まるで日記のようにかいているのが油絵です。それは、実際に起きたことや見つけたものをモチーフにしながら、私の感情を交えた抽象画として表現されています。ところが、描くまでに感情を忘れてしまうこともあります。それにより、絵に込められるはずだった感情が歪み、事実とは異なる形で記録されていくのです。

しかし、この歪みこそが、作品に独自の魅力を与えてくれることがあります。私はこのことに気づき、忘却という一見マイナスに思える特性を、逆に生かす方法を見出しました。

本展では、そんな油絵作品たちを展示します。
私の記憶の欠落部分を補う歪みが生み出す美しさ、「忘却グルーヴ」をぜひお楽しみください。


My memory is poor, and I rely on calendar apps and to-do list apps every day. What I tend to forget most, in particular, are my emotions. I can still remember what I have seen or heard, but the feelings I experienced fade quickly. While I can remember that I was "happy," it feels as if it were an event from the past written in a history textbook, something that happened to someone else.

To ensure that I don't forget important events, I express my emotions through oil paintings, almost like keeping a diary. These paintings are abstract representations that incorporate my feelings while drawing from things that actually happened or were discovered. However, sometimes I forget my emotions before I start painting. As a result, the feelings that were supposed to be infused into the artwork become distorted, and the record is shaped differently from the truth.

Yet, it is this distortion that can sometimes give the work its unique charm. I realized this and found a way to leverage what might initially seem like a negative trait—forgetting.

In this exhibition, I will showcase these oil paintings. Please enjoy the beauty created by the distortions that compensate for the gaps in my memory, the "Oblivion Groove."
